Skills and experiences gained through participation in Reel Vision
After
completing Reel Vision, students will be able to:
- Use technical, research, and interview skills to create a film
- Locate, organize and edit resources to tell a meaningful story
- Critically think about the issues facing their community and develop the skill-set to critique this using digital video
- Complete a project that contributes to the understanding of an issue or a unknown success story in their community
- Understand their historical, cultural, and community roots and perspectives.
- Develop leadership skills and work collaboratively on a group project.
- Dissect and analyze media by understanding how it is created
Technology Skills:
- Understand and perform basic cinematography techniques
- Use the manual features of a digital video camera to film an interview and collect b-roll footage.
- Setup lavaliere, hand-held and mountable microphones
- Setup and level tripods
- Search and download information and images from the Internet.
- Use Apple’s iLife software (iMovie, iTunes and iPhoto) to import, organize, and edit music, images and video as well as create narration, effects, transitions, and titles.
- Understand new technologies through a strong base of experiences and basic terminology
